Becoming Independent (BI) is a non-profit community organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This 23,040 square feet single-story tenant improvement project integrates crucial components: a full commercial kitchen, flexible fitness areas, adaptable conference rooms that double as classrooms, private offices, and expansive open instruction spaces, fostering a community-centric environment.

The project prioritizes essential ADA upgrades, seamless storefront systems, and three spacious indoor/outdoor workspaces exceeding 8,200 square feet, emphasizing adaptability and inclusivity. The comprehensive utility upgrade incorporates modern rooftop units, enhanced power distribution, improved water lines, a grease interceptor, and a contemporary low voltage/security system, ensuring a functional and progressive space.

This project was awarded “Excellence in Construction: Best North Bay Community Impact Project” by the North Bay Business Journal.
